Technical Design and Monitoring Officer

Salary: £26,159 to £28,542 per annum depending on qualifications and experience

Contract Type: Full Time - 37 hours per week

Contract Length: Permanent Contract

Rother is a vibrant and inclusive organisation and we are looking for a forward thinking professional to join our talented and enthusiastic planning policy team.

You will have specific responsibility for graphic material, mapping and data presentation. You will also monitor housing and employment land supply and progress against our key indicators. You’ll use your specialist knowledge to quickly become a vital member of the team and will play a key role in creating the Council’s new Local Plan in a time of Climate Emergency.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Designing and producing plans and other graphical material for planning policy documents and related publicity/exhibition material
  • Undertaking technical research and monitoring work to support the preparation of planning policy documents, notably in relation to development activity, policy implementation and evidence to support development of planning policies
  • Assisting in the proper monitoring of social, economic and environmental conditions and trends affecting planning policy, the progress of development and key indicators
  • Preparing monitoring reports to support preparation of planning policy documents, notably in relation to development activity and policy implementation

Skills and qualifications:

  • Good general level of education, with at least 4 GCSEs (higher grades) or equivalent, including mathematics and other relevant subjects
  • Experience in a graphics-related post
  • Use of InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Good understanding of national planning policies
  • Use of Geographic Information System (GIS)
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Excellent analytical skills
