River and coastal areas most likely to be affected have specific arrangements in place for a multi-agency response to major incidents.

You should already be aware if you live in one of these areas but you can check on the Environment Agency’s Flood Map Pages for confirmation, as well as hints and advice on flood prevention.

These flooding events are far more likely to build up over a period of time and the multi-agency response will be activated at the first appropriate opportunity to ensure its implementation is thorough and effective.

The District Council operates as part of much wider plan during these conditions, along with the other agencies involved, and becomes part of an integrated response team with specific duties.

During these periods the District Council may not be a direct contact point for assistance, but full details of contacts will be available to the public as and when the incident plan becomes activated.
