Camber Village is located on the East Sussex coast, close to the border with Shepway, Kent and near the historic market town of Rye.

Camber Sands

The area is valued for its outstanding natural environment and its rich biodiversity. Camber's beaches attract many tourists in the summer as well as extreme sports enthusiasts' all year round, with a number of kite surfing operators well established in the area. The significant increase in population in the summer months can put local infrastructure under considerable strain and there is a requirement to find a balanced equilibrium between the needs of local residents, the local economy and protecting the natural environment which makes Camber unique.

The draft Camber SPD (supplementary Planning document) establishes an overarching vision for the village and provides guidance for future development in the locality.

The draft Camber SPD is broken down in several sections and can be seen in full here

Note:Rother District Council and the City of Oostende have been awarded a grant by a European Union (EU) programme called INTERREG C21p to fund improvements to parks and other open spaces. See 21st Century Parks web page for full details.
