You can appeal to the Planning Inspectorate against:

  • the refusal of planning permission or listed building/conservation area consent
  • any condition imposed on a permission/consent
  • failure to determine the application within eight weeks
  • the refusal of advertisement consent

Only the person who made the application can appeal. If you didn’t apply, you can comment on an appeal instead.

For a full guide on how to make a planning appeal visit the Planning Inspectorate appeals page.

You can also submit an enforcement appeal.

The Planning Inspectorate also allows you to check the progress of a specific appeal.

If you are considering submitting an appeal the Planning Inspectorate have provided Appeal Guidance Booklets which explain each process in more detail.
