In view of the fact that more people use Camber Sands during the summer season, i.e. between Easter and the end of September, there is a greater risk of horses causing danger or annoyance to persons using the Seashore.

Horse riding for the summer season is restricted from the last Thursday before Easter Sunday to 30 September inclusive.  During this period riding is permitted weekdays early mornings (off beach by 8.30am) and evenings (after 7pm).  Please be advised that during school holidays, there can still be large numbers of visitors using the beach during summer evenings.

Riding is permitted around LOW tide hours only, (i.e. 2 hours before/after), all year round.  Please check tide times before setting out.

Riders arriving at high tide will not be permitted to ride on the beach.

Horse owners should also be aware that winter weekends can still be very busy, and parking can be an issue during peak hours.  Early mornings or late afternoons avoid such conflicts.

Please note, traps or carriages pulled by horse or pony are not permitted on the beach.

Any mess MUST be cleared up and taken away.

Please be aware that all horse riding is subject to change by the Coastal Officer should there be high numbers of beach users early or late in the day.

Car Park

During the summer season (1 April to 30 September) the gate at Camber Central car park (TN31 7RH) is locked at 8pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings and the car park will not open until the following morning at 8.30am.  Therefore users wishing to ride on the beach will have to find a safe and legal place to park.  During the winter season, the gate is not locked. Please note that there may be occasions when it is necessary to lock the gates at short notice due to unforeseen circumstances.

Please be aware the Car Park is Pay and Display or payment can be made by RingGo.  Tickets for each space used must be purchased (from 8.30am to 6pm).   Any mess, horse or dog, should be cleared up.
